Lauzon book about Columbian Issue 1893 described the World's Fair Post Office as a model "ideal" post office which employed twenty-five clerks and twenty-five carriers. |
This special P.O. was a part of the Government building at the Columbian Exposition. |

In the same building and in a gallery sixty-five feet long by twenty-five feet wide, overlooking the P.O. exhibit bellow it appeared the American Philatelic Association's exhibit of postage stamps. |

The cork cancellations (left) had not disappeared when the Columbian stamps were issued. Many varieties of these will be found on them, as far as manufactured handstamps |
There were two similar types of special machine cancellations with the inscription "World's Fair Station 1893" around the circle. The handstamp was also used. |
